Live Shows Cancelled

Your favorite band has most likely cancelled that show you were so excited for. The recent announcement of large public gatherings being temporarily banned has put a damper on live music lovers. Artists and bands left and right are pulling out of their concerts and live tours. Some even making the decision to put on live shows via social media.

If the concert you were planning on attending has been cancelled just know that you are not alone. For now, sit back and listen to the official KNSU curated playlist of underground bands from Louisiana.

KNSU Streams on Live365

Nicholls State University’s radio station will be returning to the online streaming service Live365 because of Covid-19 AKA the Coronavirus. In an attempt to limit travel to campus, all lecture based courses have been moved to online. KNSU is following this model by hopping back onto online streaming.

If you would like to listen to 91.5 KNSU from the comfort of your own homes, there are a couple ways to accomplish that goal.

Method 1: Download the app

If you plan on listening to a lot of online radio, this is the method for you. Just go to your app store (Android or Iphone. We don’t judge) and download Live365. Once it’s downloaded, just type KNSU or 91.5 KNSU into the search bar. Our campus radio’s station should be the only to pop up.

Method 2: Go to the Website

If you don’t want to commit to an app download, just check out the Live365 website. After that, just type KNSU or 91.5 KNSU into the search bar. We’ll leave a link to the site here.

New Music Coming Soon

I wrote a profile on a local underground artist named 5233ok a few weeks ago. He discussed his new upcoming album Oliver Grape, but was very unsure on the release date of this album. There is now confirmation that Oliver Grape will most likely be dropping in April.

5233ok contacted me with news of his album this week. He explained that music was being made much faster than he expected. He told me that he was very hopeful about finishing the entire record by the end of the month.

Check out my profile on 5233ok if you want to know more about the artist. Don’t forget to read my song recommendations to get a better understanding of the artists music.

Live Music At Nicholls State

Nicholls State University has introduced me to some of the coolest underground bands in the region. I have always appreciated our school’s role in representing the local band life. If you are interested in checking out live music on campus, here are some events to look out for:

Alley After Dark

A personal favorite of mine. I must admit that I do have a bit of a bias towards this event. It is an annual concert of local bands hosted by the campus radio station 91.5 KNSU. An organization that I have been a part of for the past two years. Despite my involvement with the event, I can honestly tell you that it is a great opportunity to listen to great local music. The event takes place during the Fall Semester outside of the union so be sure to check it out.

Alive At Five

Alive At Five focuses more on bands with a larger following. In fact, I would argue that they do everything Alley After Dark does, just on a larger scale. The last event I attended was in 2017. A huge stage was set up next to our schools recreation center and two bands both played pretty amazing sets. Alive At Five also takes place during the Fall semester so be on the look out for a time and date.
