A Nicholls Student’s Pop Star Dream
Kade Jones spends his hours on campus as a normal student. He attends class, works for clubs, and hangs out with his friends. However, during his alone time, Kade creates music under his stage name 5233ok. I recently got to sit down with 5233ok and understand how his musical dreams came to be.
Origin of 5233ok
Music was always a big part of Jones’ life. In the second grade, his parents forced him to learn the drums. His mother insisted that someone in the family picked up an instrument and the responsibility eventually became his own.
His father, Kenny Jones, was also a casual drummer. He taught his son everything he knows about the instrument. I had a chance to speak to Kenny Jones over the phone. I asked him what it was like teaching his son to play the drums. He stated:
He was immediately better than I was. I was really excited to see how good he would get.

Jones lived in New Iberia before applying to Nicholls State University. He focused on learning as much as he could about music production in high school. He released his first official album 5233ok Vol. 1 in 2017.
Future for 5233ok
I asked Jones of any future plans during our sit down interview. He talked about his upcoming album.
I’m planning on another album. It may be my last for now and I may come back later. It’s called Oliver Grape.

I think doing something in the auditorium would be really fun, but I want to make sure I’m prepared for something like that.
